Twins return to NICU after 21 years
Jackson and Samuel are twin baby boys that were born prematurely due to a rare monoamniotic pregnancy that caused their umbilical cords to tangle together.
After 21 long years, they return to Westmead Hospital with Mum Melanie to put together a morning tea with the help of the Westmead Hospital Foundation. It serves as a small token of gratitude for the staff that cared for them during their first critical weeks of life.

The morning tea was filled with heartfelt conversations, laughter, and a sense of nostalgia. Current NICU staff were touched by the gesture, with many expressing how rewarding it was to see former patients thriving as young adults.
Clinical NUM Lynelle McCabe, who was one of the nurses that looked after the Yates family 21 years ago, shared her thoughts: "When they (NICU babies) come back to visit us, it’s such a rewarding thing to see that we’ve looked after and have nurtured them as babies."
