Donate to the Eye Clinic today

The Eye Clinic (otherwise known as Ophthalmology) is a department in Westmead Hospital that focuses on eye health. Many eye diseases can be treated successfully, especially if caught early. The Eye Clinic provides a range of services, including eye check-ups, surgeries, and long-term care for eye conditions.

Westmead Hospital's Eye Clinic is the 2nd biggest eye unit in the state

Servicing 100-200 patients, with up to 15 cataract surgeries in a single day

In 2024, the Eye Clinic received 14,000 referrals from community optometrists

A multidisciplinary team that covers all services

The Eye Clinic sees patients with acute, chronic and emergency eye conditions. The service performs routine and emergency eye surgery and offers a 24/7 on call system for Westmead Hospital.

The Eye Clinic also offers a Community Eye Care (CEYEC) program for people with long-term eye conditions who don’t need urgent hospital care but still need regular check-ups. It allows patients to be monitored and managed in a community setting, helping them get the care they need without having to visit the hospital.
