Westmead Hospital Foundation staff and Board Members were saddened to learn that beloved Colorectal surgeon, Grahame Ctercteko has passed away suddenly and unexpectedly.
A Westmead clinician for over 40 years, Grahame is remembered as the kindest of men, a true gentleman who helped thousands of patients with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions. Grahame’s motivating and compassionate leadership made the Colorectal Unit a highly regarded place to work. Grahame taught generations of surgeons, and his reputation was such that young doctors from Australia and across the world competed to work as part of Grahame’s team. Under Grahame’s guidance, Westmead Colorectal Unit rose to the forefront of colorectal surgery and hospital-based medical research.
Grahame was a great supporter of the Foundation for many years, and we mourn his loss as a true friend and Elder Statesman of the Westmead Hospital family.
